Supply voltages ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V can power the TSOP36xxx series of SMD IR receiver modules. The devices combine a photo detector and preamplifier in a single integrated package. They are intended to save space in remote control applications. The receivers can operate with short burst (= 6 cycles/burst) transmission codes and data rates up to 4,000 bits/s with seven standard carrier frequencies from 30 to 56 kHz. Built-in automatic gain control (AGC) suppresses ambient light disturbances for reliable operation. The epoxy package doubles as an IR filter to further enhance immunity to ambient light. Metal shielding in the package protects against electrical field disturbances. The output signal is active low and is TTL and CMOS compatible. An internal band filter allows PCM frequency operation. A demodulated output signal can be directly decoded by a microprocessor for use in multimedia applications. The modules measure 5.3 mm x 7.2 mm x 2.35 mm high and operate over a range of -40°C to +90°C. Pricing starts at $80/100 pieces in 100,000 quantities. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA.
