WLAN PA Houses Many Features

Oct. 8, 2008
Promoted as the industry's most highly-integrated, dual-band WLAN power amplifier (PA), the 4 mm x 4 mm AWL6950 supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, allowing for the use of a single PA for 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11a/b, and 802.11a/b/g

Promoted as the industry's most highly-integrated, dual-band WLAN power amplifier (PA), the 4 mm x 4 mm AWL6950 supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, allowing for the use of a single PA for 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11a/b, and 802.11a/b/g applications. The chip specifies an error vector magnitude of 3.5% at 20 dBm in the 2.4 GHz band, 19 dBm in the 5 GHz band, and exhibits a linear power gain of 31.5 dB at 2.4 GHz and 30 dB at 5 GHz. Claiming a best in class acknowledgement, it provides ESD protection in excess of 1 kV. Reportedly unique, the device integrates a CMOS-compatible on/off circuit for each band, eliminating the need for additional circuitry. Other features include temperature- and voltage-compensated power detectors and compliance with the RoHS standard. Price is $2 each/100,000. ANADIGICS INC., Warren, NJ. (908) 668-5000.
