Small Form Factor (SFF) 2x5 and Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers are suited for use with the new InfiniBand communications standard. Operating at 2.5 Gbits/s, these transceivers are designed to provide better input/output performance in heavy-traffic environments, such as servers, remote storage devices, and multiprocessor systems.

The SFF 2x5 transceivers are packaged in an MSA-compliant, all-metal housing for superior EMI and RFI performance. The low-profile transceivers fit in mezzanine card systems. The SFP InfiniBand transceivers address the need for increased port density in optical networking infrastructure equipment. They deliver twice the port density of current industry-standard removable transceivers. The MSA-compliant devices are hot-pluggable, lending themselves to easy reconfiguration and simplified field-service operations. The SFP models use a standard LC fiber-optic interface.

Pricing for these InfiniBand transceivers varies according to form factor specified, options requested, and quantities ordered. Typical pricing is under $100 each in large quantities.
