These true 3V to 5.5V RS-232 transceivers are designed to meet the requirements of EIA/TIA-232-F at 3V supply voltage. The SP32xxx transceivers are available in two-driver/two-receiver or three-driver/five-receiver configurations and require only 0.1

These true 3V to 5.5V RS-232 transceivers are designed to meet the requirements of EIA/TIA-232-F at 3V supply voltage. The SP32xxx transceivers are available in two-driver/two-receiver or three-driver/five-receiver configurations and require only 0.1 µF external capacitors for operation. Applications are notebook/laptop computers and PDAs and other portable systems. At 3V, the devices offer ESD tolerances of ±15 kV human body model, ±15 kV IEC1000-4-2 air discharge and ±8 kV IEC1000-4-2 contact discharge. The SP3223E/3223EH/3243E/3243EH devices have “intelligent” Auto-Online circuits on-chip that automatically put the devices in standby when not in use, reducing the current draw to 1 µA. The circuits also automatically wake-up the device upon resumed activity at the receiver inputs. Standard devices offer a minimum of 120 kbps data rate under load while H series offers a minimum of 460 kbps.
