Said to offer highly versatile data tracking in a wide variety of applications, the new V720 RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system features new paper-thin read/write tags and new high-frequency radio signals. The complete family includes tags, controllers and antennas. The new tag, called an inlet, is thin--just 50 microns at the antenna and 270 microns at the chip--and can be easily adapted to user size and specification requirements. The inlet uses an I-CODE chip from Philips Semiconductors, and meets ISO 15693. Each tag inlet is 101.6 mm x 48 mm. The antenna has a maximum communication distance of 25 cm and can be mounted on metal. The ID controller features single access to the tag, multiple access for several tags, selective access, and FIFO queue functions. The V720 series RFID system starts at $1,200 for the controller, $1,243 for the antenna, and $1,530 for the tag inlets in quantities of 1,000.
