Targeting 3G handsets for EGSM (Band 8) UMTS wireless networks, the AWT6281 HELP3 WCDMA linear power amplifier promises longer handset and data card operating times by reducing average current consumption by 75% over comparable devices. Quiescent current is 7 mA without a dc/dc converter and the amplifier eliminates the need for an external voltage regulator. In its 4 mm x 4 mm x 1.1 mm surface-mount package, the AWT6281 integrates matching networks optimized for output power, efficiency, and linearity. Additionally, the device exploits the company's patented InGaP-Plus technology that combines bipolar and FET devices on the same GaAs die. ANADIGICS INC., Warren, NJ. (908) 668-5000.
