    Qualified to Bluetooth 1.0b (plus critical criteria) and approved for global use, including FCC and ETSI, the ROK 101008 multichip module needs only an antenna to function as a complete Bluetooth device. Aimed at mobile products, such as mobile phones, PDAs and notebook PC cards needing to communicate with each other or with stationary systems, the module supports both data and voice transmissions, with communications to host controllers via high-speed UART and PCM interfaces.The ROK 101008 module has a baseband controller, flash memory, and a radio transceiver with Class 2 RF power output and comes with basic Bluetooth software for signalling at Host Control Interface (HCI) levels. And it supports various profiles, including generic access, service discovery, dial-up networking, fax, and headset and is recognized as a ÒBlue UnitÓ for use as a reference in qualifying other Bluetooth products. The 33 mm x 17 mm x 3 mm high Bluetooth module works from a nominal 3.3 Vdc supply (5.25 Vdc max.) and costs $36.32 each/1,000.
