The MS120 WiMAX/WiBro chipset, which includes digital baseband and a radio, debuts as the first terminal chipset implementing a feature set based on the IEEE 802.16e Mobile WiMAX standard. The digital baseband chip includes all PHY and MAC functionality. It integrates an embedded RISC processor that implements the MAC functionality, thereby minimizing processing loads on the host processor. The radio chip is designed for multi-band operation containing multiple transmit/receive chains to minimize cost, footprint, and power consumption. Additionally, a comprehensive design kit is available that includes the host driver software and RF calibration tools. The MS120 chipset is sampling now and reference design kits are immediately available upon request. For more information, call BECEEM COMMUNICATIONS INC., Santa Clara, CA. (408) 387-5000.
