Representing the newest addition to the firm's growing list of multi-protocol network interface ICs supporting popular global serial interface standards, the XRT4500 chip complies with V.35, V.36, EIA-530 (A), RS-232 (V.28), X.21, and RS-449 serial interface standards. Among the 5V chip's features are a power-down mode, eight receivers and eight transmitters for full data terminal equipment (DTE), and data communications equipment support. It also is software/hardware-configurable in any one of the eight popular interface standards, so the correct type of electrical receivers/transmitters for each signal and appropriate terminations are automatically selected. Echoed clock, as well as clock and data inversion are also supported.
