Providing a telemetry solution for remote utility metering, the QuikRadio 150-MHz single-chip RF receivers are designed to meet the utilities metering needs in many countries. The new receivers include two devices: the MICRF004 is a fully featured receiver in a 16-pin SOIC and the MICRF044 provides a subset of that functionality in an 8-pin SOIC. Power consumption for the ICs is 2.4 mA and can be further reduced by duty cycling. A 10:1 duty cycle can reduce power down to 240 µA. Designs require only four external components to complete, and there is no production tuning required. Because there is no tuning, there is no drift over time in the final circuit.
