Accepting one channel of 8-bit parallel data, VSC7211 Gigabit Interconnect IC for 1- and 1.25-Gbps serial interconnection over system backplanes or between systems performs 8B/10B encoding and decoding and sends data over a single differential signal pair while automatically compensating for data skew among multiple VSC7211 channels. This IC can be used in conjunction with its companion product, the four-channel VSC7214. These ICs eliminate the cumbersome task of designing parallel bus architectures for network switches, routers, hubs, I/O modules and other equipment with high-bandwidth interconnection requirements.
