H3C Selects Intellon's INT6300 for EoC Solution

IP solution provider H3C selected Intellon's INT6300 chip for its Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) solutions for multiple dwelling unit (MDU) apartment complexes in China. H3C will use EoC technology for high-speed, two-way communication for Video on Demand (VoD) back channel and broadband Internet applications. H3C picked the INT6300 based on the chip's distribution performance, which spanned more than 500 meters of coax with multiple splitters. It did not require the cable operator to change the existing cabling within the MDU. Intellon's INT6000 and INT6300 HomePlug AV-based powerline chips will drive next-generation home entertainment applications like HD and SD video distribution, Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), networked digital video recorders (DVRs) and media center PCs. They'll also power broadband applications like whole-house audio, networked home security, Voice over IP (VoIP), networked and online gaming, and higher data-rate Internet access technologies such as ADSL2+, VDSL and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). "Our technical team has been working closely with H3C in the trial deployments and our solution has proven itself to be up to the challenge of delivering high quality multimedia over long lengths of coax and across multiple splitters reliably," Cameron McCaskill, VP Business Development of Intellon Corporation, said in a statement.
