Targeted at high-level data link control (HDLC) based Internet/remote corporate access and LAN campus extensions, the MB86976 digital subscriber line WAN Ethernet bridge controller is a multi-protocol data link layer bridging solution that connects computers and computer networks to remote offices, corporate intranets, and the Internet. It provides flexible integration of a 10-Mbps Ethernet link at up to 8 Mbps for small office/home office (SOHO) access over HDLC-based xDSL. The device comes with standard interfaces to DRAM, generic embedded 8- or 16-bit host µCs, and physical-layer transceivers.
