Consisting of a transformer and a companion application note, the company has introduced what it deems to be the first data access arrangement (DAA) telephone-interface circuit that is both internationally approvable to CTR-21 and other worldwide standards and costs under $3.50. According to the company, the transformer is a key component in the DAA circuit, the portion that bridges the equipment to the telephone line.
The new DAA circuit will allegedly save significant time in the design of equipment such as fax machines, set-top boxes, office equipment, interactive games, embedded applications, point-of-sale terminals, and other externally-powered telephone devices. The DAA circuit, transformer plus application note costs under $3.50 each/100,000.
