A dual-speed (10 and 100 MBPS) Ethernet Media Converter, JET110A MC10/100 fiber system device is designed to complete implementation of the proposed 100BASE-SX standard-the standard addresses specifications of 10/100 MBPS operation using low cost

A dual-speed (10 and 100 MBPS) Ethernet Media Converter, JET110A MC10/100 fiber system device is designed to complete implementation of the proposed 100BASE-SX standard-the standard addresses specifications of 10/100 MBPS operation using low cost 850-nm optics. The JET110A MC10/100 Media Converter implements this standard, which includes the use of auto-negotiation for speed selection. Optical transceivers operating at 850 nm are said to offer a cost reduction of more than 50% when compared with 1300 nm operation specified by the 100BASE-FX Ethernet standard.
