Dual-Mode Chip Antenna Helps Establish High-Speed Wireless Links
Targeting the latest generation of high-speed wireless networks, a new 2.45/5.2-GHz, dual-mode chip antenna meets both the IEEE 802.11b (2.45 GHz) and IEEE 802.11a (5.2 GHz) requirements for high-speed data communication via wireless links. The new antenna is based on the company's ceramic multilayer technology and is said to be superior to etched antennas commonly used in mobile RF equipment. The dual-mode chip antenna is said to be based on the latest high-frequency ceramic materials and is easily capable of achieving resonance at frequencies as high as 10 GHz. The antenna, with its standard SMT form-factor, also offers such advantages as small size, low mass (weight), and built-in 50-ohms impedance matching. The antenna is manufactured using a low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) and the company's proprietary non-toxic water-based production process with lead-free terminations.
