Offered as the industry's highest performance three-channel laser driver, the EL6247C is said to be capable of increasing CD-RW write/rewrite speed to 24x. Available in a 16-pin QSOP, the device has a response time of 0.8 ns tr/tf and a 200 mA total write-channel output current. To reduce laser read noise and eliminate the need for an external oscillator-enable signal, a high-frequency modulator oscillator with an automatic turn-off function is included. Price is $2.50 each/10,000. For more details, call Steve Sacarisen at ELANTEC SEMICONDUCTOR, INC., Milpitas, CA. (408) 945-1323, ext. 345.
