Designed to operate with BrightCom’s IntelliBLUE baseband processors, the RF2968 transceiver measures 5 mm x 5 mm and requires few external components. A BiCMOS process technology is said to be responsible for the device’s high level of integration, including the on-chip VCO and IF filter, which eliminates the need for baluns or T/R switches. The transceiver also features self calibration, with the calibration information stored on-chip, making it accessible to the baseband processor.
