In a 5 mm x 5 mm TFBGA40 chip-scale package, the model TDA7701 single-chip FM tuner promises trim-free operation and high-quality stereo audio. The device operates on supply voltages from 2.4V to 3.2V with a current consumption of 12 mA and from a range of cell phone clock frequencies. To reduce external components, it integrates a 425-kHz IF stage, channel-selection filters, and a VCO with built-in varicaps. Specs include a maximum SNR of 60 dB, 3 dB/µV usable sensitivity at 30 dB SNR, 40 dB selectivity at ±300 kHz, 30 dB stereo separation, and 0.5% THD. Price is $2.50 each/1,000.
