Self crowned as the industry’s first Gigabit Ethernet over SONET mapper device, the HDMP-3002 includes SerDes, clock data recovery, and OC-3 to OC-48 framers on a single chip. The device provides full-duplex mapping of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet frames encapsulated into STS-48/12/3 SONET/SDH by employing the generic framing procedures, frame delineated HDLC, or the link access procedure-SDH protocol. It can connect up to four Gigabit Ethernet feeds into one STS-48/ STM-16, four STS-12/STM-4, or four STS-3/STM-1 channels. A concatenation feature allows users to dial up bandwidth on demand, allocating bandwidth data streams down to STS-1 granularity. Manufactured on a 0.18-µm CMOS process with a 1.8V core and 2.5V and 3.3V I/O, the device is available in a 664-pin CBGA package and supports the OC-48/STM-16 standard. Price is $475 each/1,000.
