Parallel SCSI and Fibre Channel storage subsystem designers can implement a common embedded control architecture across an entire product line when using a family of three ICs suited for in-band DES and SAF-TE and out-of-band Intelligent Chassis Management Bus (ICMB) enclosure management solutions. The common hardware and software implementation of the SSC050 backplane controller and the SSC100 and SSC200 embedded controllers reduce the time required to implement enclosure management. The SSC200 enclosure management controller is a highly-integrated embedded controller for storage subsystems. The SSC100 FC-AL embedded controller is a Fibre Channel NL_Port for command and control applications. A companion device, the SSC050 backplane controller, integrates the digital logic found in most JBOD storage subsystems.
