Self proclaimed as the industry's first unified 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, the PI3L301D bi-directional switch surpasses the IEEE 802.3-Gigabit Ethernet return-loss specification with a minimum of 2 dB of margin over the entire frequency band. The device multiplexes eight pairs of differential outputs from a transceiver into one of two corresponding, 8-bit outputs. This 16-bit to 8-bit mux/demux process reportedly allows notebook PC designers to eliminate an entire Gigabit Ethernet transceiver.
