Expanding the packaging options for its secure KEELOQ devices, the HCS410/WM read/write transponder module is available in a small, tapered SOT-385 leadless wedge package. The device features a single chamfered corner that is claimed to dramatically increase the level of security required in control systems, automotive immobilizers, electronic door locks, burglar alarm systems, proximity access control, and authentication of expendable brand-name items. Additional security features include read protection of all security-related information and the encryption keys, serial number, and an EEPROM that is programmed through the transponder interface, which stores all configuration data on-chip. Pricing is $2.45 each/10,000.
