PMC Module Holds Four High-Speed Serial Comm Channels

June 18, 2007
The TPMC863 high-speed quad serial communication PMC module from TEWS Technologies supports a maximum data rate of 10 Mbits/s for synchronous protocols and 2 Mbits/s for asynchronous protocols.

Implemented in FPGA logic combined with the bus-master-capable PCI interface, the TPMC863 from TEWS Technologies is a synchronous/asynchronous serial PMC module with four high-speed communications channels. The module succeeds the discontinued TPMC862, providing similar functionality and full connector and pin-out compatibility. It’s designed for data communications, LAN/WAN networking, military communications, traffic control, simulation, and telecommunications applications.

Each channel supports several serial communications protocols, including asynchronous, isochronous, synchronous, and HDLC mode. Maximum data rate is 10 Mbits/s for synchronous protocols and 2 Mbits/s for asynchronous protocols. Asynchronous and basic synchronous support is available for major operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, VxWorks, and QNX. The line interface employs multi-protocol transceivers. The physical interface of each channel can be independently software-selected for EIA-232, EIA-422, EIA-449, EIA-530, EIA-530A, V.35, V.36, or X.21. Physical connection is either through front-panel I/O with an HD68 SCSI-3 type connector or rear I/O via P14. For more information, go to www.tews.com.
