Introduced as the industryÕs smallest quad bus LVDS transceiver, the MAX9157 IC consists of four drivers and four receivers, optimized for half-duplex, multipoint bus applicationsÑtypically consists of 16 to 20 cards plugged into a backplane. Available in 5 x 5 mm, 32-pin QFNs or 32-pin TQFPs, the quad BLVDS can be placed as close to the bus connector as possible to minimize stub lengths and maximize signal integrity. Other MAX9157 features include a receiver input hysteresis of 50 mV, controlled, 1-ns 0% to 100% transition times at the driver, and a bus load capacitance of 7.2 pF. The transceiver operates on a single 3.3V supply in temperatures from -40¡C to 85¡C. Prices start at $4.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
