Operating at 250 mW, the BCM5221 single-channel 10/100 TX/FX Ethernet transceiver is claimed to be the lowest power-consuming transceiver in the industry, as well as the first to operate on 2.5V. Internal power management automatically powers the device down when not connected to the network. The HP Auto-MDIX, automatically detects and corrects the polarity of crossed cables. Other features include three low-power modes. Pricing is $7 each/1,000.
