EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, CA. - Claiming new standards in power and size, the industry’s first PCIe 8-port, 8-lane and 5-port, 5-lane switches specify power-consumption levels down to 0.8W and debut in 15 mm x 15 mm packages. The ExpressLane PEX 8509 with eight lanes and eight ports consumes 1.2W of power, while the 5-lane, 5-port PEX 8505 consumes 0.8W. Both switches employ the company's third-generation architecture featuring a proprietary cut-through design that lowers latency to 118 ns for the PEX8509 and 138 ns for the PEX 8505. Additionally, the switches comply with the PCI-SIG PCI Express Base Specification, Revision 1.1. Scheduled for sampling in the second quarter with full production in the third, volume pricing will be $12 for the PEX 8509 and $8 for the PEX 8505. PLX TECHNOLOGY INC., Sunnyvale, CA.
