Offered as drop-in upgrades for comparable devices, the LINEARLINK ISL8489E and ISL8491E full-duplex, RS-485/422 transceivers provide ESD protection to 15 kV on all transmit and receive pins and up to 7 kV on all logic pins. They are available in 14-lead SOIC packages with a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and operate with a ±10% tolerance from a 5V supply. Both are single-unit load devices that allow up to 32 nodes per bus. The ISL8489E provides data rates up to 250 Kb/s and employs slew-rate limited drivers for long-run applications.
