The SEQ-5400 emerges as what may be the industry’s first single-chip, multi-mode WEDGE RF transceiver based on the company's FullSpectra polar architecture. Reportedly, the chip is the first true multi-mode transceiver using a common basic architecture so that circuitry can be shared across all modes. It supports WCDMA, HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS, and GSM modes across five frequency bands, making the device applicable for use in worldwide networks. Integrating everything from the baseband interface to the power amplifier and WCDMA receive SAW filters, the transceiver promises to simultaneously lower costs and increase battery life for 3G phones. Available in a 64-pin QFN package, samples are available now and volume production is anticipated in the first half of 2006.
