Hub Controllers Lower System Costs

Via extensive integration, the SCH3112, SCH3114, and SCH3116 family of pin-compatible hub controllers allows designers to standardize on a single part across a range of applications with similar characteristics, resulting in system-cost reductions.

Via extensive integration, the SCH3112, SCH3114, and SCH3116 family of pin-compatible hub controllers allows designers to standardize on a single part across a range of applications with similar characteristics, resulting in system-cost reductions. The devices are available in 128-pin VTQFP packages, which promises space savings up to 70% when compared to similar parts. In terms of I/O, the controllers offer up to six 16C550 ports with data rates up to 1.5 Mb/s and RS-485 auto direction control mode, plus 40 GPIO pins, six of which provide VID-compatible inputs. Other features include thermal sensing with an accuracy of 1.5°C, programmable fan control based on multiple temperature zones, a resume and main-power-reset generator with watchdog timer and critical-temperature trigger, and over-temperature indication. Operating temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C. Prices for the SCH3112, SCH3114, and SCH3116 are $6.30, $8.10, and $9.90 each/10,000, respectively. STANDARD MICROSYSTEMS CORP., Hauppauge, NY.
