Designed for Universal Serial Bus (USB) self-powered hub applications such as monitors, the MIC2527 quad USB switch integrates four independent high-side switches with each switch fully protected against short-circuits via a thermal shutdown circuit and internal current limiting. A flag output indicates that an overcurrent condition exists; a local USB controller can use that flag to shut down the offending channel without affecting the operation of other channels. A maximum current limit of 1.25A per port is assured to dramatically reduce the power supply requirements of supporting USB. The active current limit circuit precisely limits current during fault conditions.
