An all-in-one platform combines a 24-port, managed Ethernet switch with a full-featured IP access router (with a modular wide-area network interface), a stateful inspection firewall, and optional VPN and dial backup capabilities. The NetVanta 1224R combines all of this functionality into a single 1U rackmount platform. The platform is designed for enterprise businesses of all sizes that require converged LAN/WAN, branch office, or multisite connectivity. For high-speed server access, uplink, or stacking requirements, the NetVanta 1224STR version adds a Gigabit Ethernet port. If VPN functionality is needed, users can add the company's operating-system-enhanced feature pack upgrade, which includes IPsec VPN support and advanced security features. The NetVanta 1224R lists for $1195, while the 1224STR lists for $1295. Both are immediately available.
