The Software Defined Radio (SDR) Forum is seeking suggestions to help it create regulatory recommendations related to SDR and cognitive radio capabilities. The international industry association has issued a request for information (RFI) soliciting input from members, the communications technology industry, academia, government agencies, and other interested parties. The Forum will use responses to the RFI, subsequent member discussions, and other inputs to come up with regulatory recommendations to use in advocacy and education efforts that promote the consolidated positions of it members.
“The SDR Forum is eager to engage with the international regulatory community in supporting our members’ organizational objectives and promoting the positions of the SDR community as a whole,” said Bernard Eydt of Booz Allen Hamilton and chair of the SDR Forum’s Regulatory Committee. “We believe that the results of this RFI will lead to SDR Forum recommendations that have broad, global applicability and will promote the use of reconfigurable radio technologies across regional, national, and local jurisdictions.”
