Converting parallel data to serial data, and vice versa, HD64572 Serial Communications Adapter-II has a 32-bit data/address bus, interfaces to popular 32-bit processors and to a PCI bus controller, and offers very fast transfer rates up to 66 Mbps in DMA mode and 25 Mbps in serial mode. The chip has two independent full-duplex, multi-protocol serial channels that support a wide variety of communications protocols such as frame relay, HDLC, SDLC, X.25 link level (LAPB), LAPD, X.21, DDCMP, monosynchronous, bisynchronous and asynchronous. It also supports transparent communication and the xDSL communications technique.
