The Fast Ethernet needs of lower-cost equipment can be addressed with the MPC855T, a streamlined version of the MPC860T PowerQUICC microprocessor. The device provides a single 10/100 Ethernet port plus a single serial communication controller to support protocols such as ATM, HDLC, ISDN, multi-channel HDLC, and 10Base-T Ethernet. The processor’s flexibility makes it a suitable candidate for equipment such as SOHO and branch-office routers, ADSL and cable modems, and intelligent hubs. The unit is footprint-compatible with existing MPC860 family members and its I/O operates at 3.3V. Other features include: 106 MIPS performance at 80 MHz; 4-kbyte data and instruction caches; 8 kbytes of dual-port RAM; and more. A full suite of development support is available.
