High bandwidth and system density, along with exceptional jitter tolerance and low jitter generation are among the key features of the VSC7139 quad transceiver and VSC7212 backplane interconnect IC for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and serial backplane applications. These two 3.3V devices are the newest members of the firm’s Velocity family of CMOS ICs. The VSC7139 integrates four complete transmitter and receiver functions onto a single chip, allowing system designers to build higher density, more robust network switches, routers and line cards. The VSC7212 serial backplane interconnect IC provides data transfer rates between 980 Mbps and 1.36 Gbps in each direction, delivering the high bandwidth and ease of use required by system designers. Both ICs comply with Gigabit Ethernet IEEE-802.3z and Fibre Channel NCITS T11 specs. The VSC7139 is packaged in a 208-pin, 23-mm BGA.
