The implementation of high density systems with lower power requirements is possible with the VSC7182 and VSC7186 Quad 10-bit Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel transceivers for network designers of switches, routers, hubs, host adapters, backplane interconnects and test equipment. The devices' full duplex operation at 1.05 Gbps to 1.36 Gbps support high density system architectures that are adaptable to a variety of applications. Each of the four transmitters contained within the devices serializes 10-bit input for transmission, while the four receivers of these ICs perform the reverse on incoming serial data. Both devices generate low jitter, providing more robust system operation with a greater margin for error. Each chip dissipates a typical 2.2W of power. Available in 208-pin, 23-mm BGA packages, Price is less than $24.00 each/10,000.
