The GeNX2000 family consists of three integrated single-chip devices that combine multiple Gigabit and 10/100 Ethernet ports in an architecture optimized for high-performance, high-bandwidth and Layer 2 switching. Claiming to be the industry's most highly integrated devices, these chips promise to reduce system complexity and cost. Three devices in the family include the GeNX 2•24 with 24 10/100 Mb/s ports, GeNX2•16 with 16 ports, and the GeNX 2•12 with 12 ports. Features include 2GE + 12, 16 or 14 FE on a single chip, SMII for 10/100 MB/s ports, 16k MAC addresses, L2 switching, auto learning and aging, and 8k packet buffers. Pricing is $60 for the GeNX 2•24, $50 for the GeNX2•16, and $45 for the GeNX 2•12, in volume quantities.
