Designed to provide audio reception capabilities in consumer products, such as wireless headsets, toys, local wide area voice pagers, and miniature FM receivers, the XE1218 includes on-chip a RF receiver section, a demodulator, and an audio amplifier that, wherever needed, can be fitted directly to an external earpiece. Based on a lowIF architecture, the system-on-a-chip also boasts of a LNA output that directly interfaces with the antenna, an on-chip channel filter and delay line-type demodulator. Presently, the XE1218 SoC is available in a naked die form, but will soon also come housed in packaged formats.
