The SiW1601 integrates Bluetooth link management and control functions on a single chip. Together with the SiW1502 Radio Modem IC, the new device forms a complete hardware solution to integrate into products. Other features of the of the new link controller include: dual on-chip 384-byte transmit and receive FIFOs to ensure packet data is never lost due to interrupt latency; programmable interrupt controller; and time-critical packet processing. The device can be used in mobile phone handsets and accessories, PCs and laser printer interconnections, PDAs, palmtops, digital cameras, and handheld game units. The link controller circuitry in the SiW1601 IC implements all real-time, lower layer protocol processing. The circuitry performs the logical protocol processing within the unit that enables the host to communicate over a Bluetooth link, while processing on the Bluetooth transmit and receive data.
