Representing an extension of the PowerQUICC II family of integrated communications processors, the MPC8250 integrates an embedded G2 core with Ethernet and PCI connectivity. In addition to the G3 core and RISC-based communications processor module, the device includes three 10/100 Ethernet MACs and support for up to 128 HDLC channels. Reducing the need for external components, it also provides a 32-bit, 66 MHz PCI interface. Targeted applications include SOHO routing designs that use multiple WAN interfaces and Fast Ethernet connections.
