Debuting as the market's first integrated USB power management device to conform to the USB on-the-go (OTG) specification, the AAT3125 employs a charge pump topology to regulate the 5V output and to deliver an output current up to 100 mA. The device integrates all voltage monitoring functionality to ensure OTG protocol compatibility. One such function monitors the Vbus to support the USB OTG session request protocol (SRP). Two power-okay detectors on the chip confirm the bus is in regulation, while session-detect and session-ready detectors manage the communications protocol outlined in the standard. Other features of the device include a switching frequency of 1 MHz and thermal, reverse-load, short-circuit, and under-voltage protection circuits. When the chip is disabled, the session-detect monitor remains active while the charge pump is turned off, reducing power consumption to 1 µA minimum. The AAT3125 comes in a 16-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm.
