In addition to radio receive and transmit functions, the 2.4-GHz TB32301AFL transceiver in a 36-pin QON package includes a low-noise amplifier (LNA), frequency modulation (FM) detector, voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), power amplifier (PA), and a received strength signal indicator (RSSI). This level of integration is achieved using BiCMOS process technology and a low IF architecture. The transceiver operates over a frequency range from 2.4 to 2.5 GHz with clock frequencies from 4 to 20 MHz. Power supply voltages range from 2.7V to 3.3V and operating temperatures extend from -20°C to +70°C. The super-heterodyne receiver relies on a linear demodulator to eliminate the need for an IF surface acoustic wave filter. The TB32301AFL transceiver is priced at $1.99 each/100,000.
