Some 84% smaller than comparable TSSOP or SOIC devices, the USB1T11ABQ transceiver in a MLP package promises to deliver USB 1.1 performance to mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, printers, set-top boxes, etc. The device interfaces 5V or 3.3V standard or programmable logic to the USB physical layer and supports both 12 and 1.5 Mb/s data rates. Compatibility with the Serial Interface Engine spec allows users to design, modify and update USB 1.1 applications using off-the-shelf logic. And the 1-mm-high MLP package is said to eliminate coplanarity problems caused by flexing leads and to exhibit low thermal resistance. Price is $0.65 each/1,000.
