Added to the LINEARLINK RS-485/422 serial data transceiver family, the ISL4485E provides a data rate of 20 Mb/s and ESD protection up to ±15 kV based on the human body model. Data can be transmitted at its rated speed over distances in excess of 400 ft. The device operates from a 5V supply and will meet its specifications over a ±10% tolerance supply range (4.5V to 5.5V). Other features include a −7V to +12V common mode input voltage range, multiplexed Rx inputs and driver Tx outputs, current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
