Fabricated in silicon-germanium (SiGe) technology, the MAX2039 is a passive mixer designed for 2.5G and 3G wireless infrastructure such as TDMA basestations where high linearity and low noise figure are important. It is a complete up/down converter that integrates a double-balanced mixer core with a local oscillator (LO) amplifier, two baluns, an LO switch and a number of discrete components. Third-order intercept (IIP3) is specified at 34.5 dBm, noise figure is 7.3 dB and conversion loss is 7.1 dB. The IF frequency range is 40 to 350 MHz with a 1,400 to 2,000 MHz low-side LO injection range. Frequency hopping is supported via the integrated SPDT LO switch with switching speeds of less than 50 ns and 45 dB of LO1-to-LO2 isolation. The gain-variation performance is specified at ±0.5 dB over the –40°C to +85°C temperature range. It is packaged in a 5 mm x 5 mm 20-pin QFN. Pricing starts at $6.15 each/1,000.
