The BCM53700 series Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switches promise more intelligent, reliable networks to small-to-medium-sized enterprises through a combination of hardware integration and easy to use software. Devices offer from 16 to 50 GbE ports and are reportedly the first to integrate a high performance MIPS processor. They exploit WebSuperSmart network configuration software, a web-based network configuration tool said to enable easy set up and management of the switch. It also supports automatic security, quality of service, and voice-over-IP (VoIP) services. Overall features of the series include Gigabit serializer/deserializer and media access controllers, support for jumbo frames, and a feature set including additional security rules, increased number of trunk groups, and double-tagging and multiple-spanning-tree protocols.
