A zero-IF, direct-conversion tuner for satellite TV, the MAX2112 receives QPSK and 8PSK signals in the 925- to 2,175-MHz range and downconverts them to baseband for demodulation. The device provides an 8-dB noise figure and dynamic range from -75 dBm to 0 dBm, thereby eliminating the need for an external low-noise amplifier (LNA). It operates from a single 3.3V supply, consumes 300 mW, and is designed for use with a 27-MHz crystal. Available in a 28-pin, 5 mm x 5 mm TQFN, prices start at $4.50 each/1,000.
