Wide-Bandwidth SiGe Mixer Delivers Excellent Spurious Rejection
A fully integrated 815-MHz to 1550-MHz SiGe passive mixer, the MAX2051 delivers excellent linearity and spurious suppression over a wide 50-MHz to 1000-MHz IF bandwidth. When configured as a downconverter, the IC provides 35 dBm of IIP3, 24 dBm of IP1dB, 7.4 dB of conversion loss, and a 7.8-dB noise figure. In addition, it exhibits outstanding levels of 2 by 1, 2 by 2, and 3 by 3 spurious suppression, with typical values of 88 dBc, 79 dBc, and 101 dBc (with a ?14-dBm input), respectively, over the entire 50-MHz to 1000-MHz IF band. As an upconverter, the MAX2051 delivers 33.4 dBm of IIP3, a low conversion loss of only 7.5 dB, and better than 61 dBc of LO ±2IF and 78 dBc of LO ±3IF suppression. This mixer is well-suited for all point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave and fixed broadband wireless-access base-station applications, which require first-IF-to-second-IF upconversion stages covering the 850-MHz to 1550-MHz band. The MAX2051 integrates a state-of-the-art double-balanced mixer core with an LO amplifier, two baluns, and dozens of discrete components into one monolithic device in a 5- by 5-mm, lead-free, 20-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $14.98 in quantities of 1000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
