Serial UART/SPI To WiFi Modules Bring WiFi To New Products

July 4, 2013
Embedded serial to WiFi module integrates a M3 Cortex host processor, Broadcom’s BCM44362 WICED and an embedded processor.

Radicom’s RW8200 3.3 V embedded serial to WiFi module integrates a M3 Cortex host processor, Broadcom’s BCM44362 WICED and an embedded processor. The self-contained WiFi subsystem and streamlined data accessibility with extended AT commands allows wireless connectivity to be incorporated into a broader range of products, including connected home appliances, consumer electronics and cloud-based sensors, healthcare and security services. The module includes UART interface with SPI interface support. It enables the addition of secure, interoperable WiFi functionality through a serial port using a basic AT command set for wireless products, and extended commands for extra features. The 802.11 b/g/n compliant module contains WiFi networking and a TCP/IP stack that enables simplified WiFi integration into any MCU based consumer product. The operating temperature of the device is -30°C to +85°C and its size is 20 x 33 x 2.2 mm. Samples of RW8200 serial to WiFi module are available now. Pricing starts at $29 each/1,000 with bulk discounts available for higher OEM volume requests.
